The Central Bank of Egypt reported that this figure increased by 28.1% compared to about $23.2 billion during the same period in the previous year. The seven-month rise accounts for roughly $6.5 billion more than in the first seven months of 2025. These figures reflect funds transferred home by Egyptians employed overseas, with the January-to-July growth following the record-high total reported for the entire calendar year of 2025.

In July alone, remittances totaled about $4.5 billion, representing a 20% increase from approximately $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also saw year-on-year growth, with January inflows reaching around $3.5 billion compared to $2.9 billion a year earlier. February’s remittance inflows rose to about $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. Collectively, January and February contributed about $7.3 billion to the seven-month total, exceeding the same period in the previous year by approximately $1.4 billion.
The broader fiscal-year data also indicate an upward trend in remittance inflows. During fiscal 2025/2026, Egypt received roughly $47.3 billion, marking a 29.6% increase from the $36.5 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year. In June 2026, inflows reached about $4.2 billion, up from $3.6 billion in June 2025, a monthly rise of 15.6%. The fiscal year spans from July 2025 to June 2026, while the latest seven-month data cover January through July 2026. In dollar terms, the overall increase for the fiscal year is approximately $10.8 billion.
Remittance Growth Evident Across Various Reporting Periods
Data for the calendar year also show a significant rise in inflows. Remittances for 2025 reached around $41.5 billion, representing a 40.5% growth from roughly $29.6 billion in 2024, which amounts to an increase of about $11.9 billion. In the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows totaled about $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period a year earlier, reflecting a 29.6% increase.
December 2025 set a monthly record of approximately $4.0 billion, a 24% increase from $3.2 billion a year prior. By January 2026, total remittances for the fiscal year had reached $25.6 billion, up from $20.0 billion during the same period in the previous fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt subsequently reported about $29.4 billion through February, which is 28% higher than the roughly $23.0 billion recorded during the corresponding eight months. December’s year-on-year growth was about $800 million.
Spring Figures Continue the Upward Trend in Remittances
During spring, the cumulative remittance total kept climbing. From July to March of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows amounted to approximately $34.9 billion, a 32% rise over the $26.4 billion reported for the same period the previous year. By April, the total had increased to about $39.2 billion, a 33.2% increase from $29.4 billion. April alone contributed roughly $4.3 billion, compared to $3.0 billion in April 2025, marking a monthly growth of 44% or about $1.3 billion.
By May, remittances for the fiscal year reached approximately $43.1 billion, a 31.2% increase from $32.8 billion in May of the previous year. Inflows for May were about $3.9 billion versus roughly $3.4 billion in May 2025. The 11-month total rose by around $10.3 billion. After June, the fiscal year ended at $47.3 billion, with July pushing the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. All recent comparisons—monthly, calendar-year, and fiscal-year—remain above their respective levels from the previous year.
