MENA Newswire News Desk: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the 16th BRICS Summit today, which was inaugurated by President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, in Kazan, Russia. This marks the UAE’s first participation as a full member of BRICS, underlining its growing influence in international multilateral forums. The summit, chaired by Russia this year, operates under the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security.” Leaders from BRICS nations and representatives from invited countries and international organizations are attending the discussions.

Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed arrived at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, the venue for the summit. Upon arrival, he joined other global leaders for an official group photo. Accompanying Sheikh Mohamed on this visit are Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court, along with other senior officials.

The summit focuses on addressing global challenges related to equitable development, security, and strengthening cooperation among emerging markets. The UAE’s inclusion reflects its strategic importance and growing engagement with BRICS nations. The event is expected to feature several bilateral meetings, providing a platform for leaders to discuss global economic and political issues. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed‘s presence highlights the UAE’s dedication to fostering multilateral cooperation on key global matters. With its BRICS membership announced earlier this year, the UAE strengthens its ties with major global economies, reaffirming its role as an international hub for trade, investment, and diplomacy.
